ARM Group LLC is looking for a self-driven and experienced Principal Engineer in our Solid Waste practice area who has a strong technical background and embodies an ownership mentality. As a Principal Engineer, you will collaborate with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists, project managers, CAD designers, and other staff to service our solid waste clients’ needs. This role will maintain client relationships, define client needs, prepare proposals, and manage the development, design and permitting of a wide range of projects related to solid waste management and environmental services. This role will also include the mentoring of junior staff. The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, resourceful, well-organized, and a cooperative producer and manager that is able to meet project goals, schedules, and budgets.


This position can be filled in the following locations: Columbia, MD, Marlton, NJ, Canonsburg, PA, State College, PA, Hershey, PA, West Chester, PA, Jessup, PA, Bethlehem, PA, and Ashland, VA.


Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the development, design and permitting of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Prepare designs and permit applications to acquire approvals from regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain complicated schedules, develop project timelines, coordinate with subcontractors, and manage people and materials to complete jobs on schedule and within budget guidelines.
  • Act as the direct point of contact in communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Assess and mitigate project risks in advance of detailed engineering efforts.
  • Prepare detailed models and technical documents to present project design/feasibility findings to stakeholders.
  • Assist the ARM business development team, including the preparation of detailed technical proposals.
  • Perform and/or check technical calculations and prepare project specifications.
  • Prepare reports, client communications, deliverables, etc. and consult with other internal partners as needed.
  • Mentor and aid in the development of junior solid waste engineers.
  • Pro-actively recognize conditions and problems of non-routine nature and develop effective solutions.

Job Requirements

Base Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • P.E. registration required.
  • 10+ years of experience in Solid Waste engineering to include facility design, permitting, operations support, and construction oversight projects including hands-on project management.
  • Strong experience with hydraulics, liquids management, pumps, and mechanical systems
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills: articulate, assertive, and confident.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects.
  • Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills.
  • Ambitious and eager to grow.
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated mentality.
  • Must have strong technical competency and analytical ability; Detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaborate with peers when appropriate.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Experience managing vendor and client payment terms to achieve positive cash flow.
  • Understanding of financial models and budget management.
  • Reasonably proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and other industry-specific software.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
