Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.SummaryThe Associate Director of Prospect Research occupies a vital role in Rush University Medical Center's Office of Philanthropy. This position is responsible for contributing to pipeline development, researching donor prospects, supporting several internal teams, and preparing detailed analysis for executives, board members and others who assist in solicitation of major- and principal-level prospects capable of million-dollar gifts and commitments. The totality of this work informs the strategic decision-making of Rush philanthropy leaders to help ensure the department meets its annual fundraising goal. The Associate Director works alongside the Director to determine and establish goals, priorities, initiatives, policies and procedures for Prospect Research at Rush.Education and Experience RequiredBachelor's degree.Minimum of 3-5 years of professional work experience, preferably within prospect development and/or non-profit fundraising.Excellent attention to detail and follow-up, and superior organizational skills.Strong understanding of business etiquette, professionalism, and industry best practices.Ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines, especially within the context of multi-team projects.Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and tact, and in accordance with HIPAA.Exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values, in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.PreferredModerate understanding of research tools and relational database applications, including DonorSearch, Relationship Science, Foundation Directory, Lexis Nexis, and Salesforce applications.Strong written communication skills, including the ability to self-edit and proofread, to adapt writing style for audience or purpose, and to convey information in a concise and easy-to-understand manner.Ability to work collegially in a team setting, as well as reliably in an independent manner.An exceptional work ethic and track record of personal initiative.Physical DemandsNo extraordinary requirement; typical office environment.ResponsibilitiesPipeline Development and Data IntegrityMaintains the integrity of the CRM by accurately recording and tracking prospective donor information.Develops strategies for identifying potential prospects within the Rush's network, from current donors with potential to increase their giving to grateful patients looking for a way to give back.Assists with patient list validations, used by MGOs in preparation for meetings with their assigned physician partners.Validates capacity for ad-hoc data requests.Identifies connections between potential prospects and Rush's trustees and senior hospital leadership.Assists GRM in identifying and updating entity records through the daily obituary process, as needed.Profile DevelopmentCreates well-researched and well-written profiles, briefings, prospect lists and short bios for major gifts officers, focusing on assigned prospects with a $250K+ rating.Assists the Director in preparing research profiles to be shared with Rush leadership for advancement-related meetings and prospect visits. This includes research on trustee candidates and prospects at the $1M+ level, as well as ad-hoc requests from Rush C-Suite and Philanthropy Senior Leadership.Produces briefing materials for monthly trustee meetings and volunteer leadership screenings, as needed.Serves as back-up for 'Top Tier' staff meetings research. This includes compiling detailed summaries of transformational prospects to be used as reference for team discussion on strategic next steps.Team CollaborationsServes as lead for daily hospital census reporting to Patient Special Services team.Leads the efforts of supporting the Alumni Giving team. This work includes general prospecting in preparation for MGO travel and cultivation visits, prioritization of alumni prospect pool, research briefings, and special projects, as requested.Collaborates with the Prospect Management team to support research resulting from portfolio review meetings. Assists with any requested pre-meeting capacity validations and prep work.Provides ad-hoc and special project assistance to the Major Giving team that supports auxiliary groups such as the Road Home Program and the Rush Women's board.Rush is an equal opportunity employer.
