This position leads and partners with local and worldwide cross-functional teams to develop and meet project schedules. This role manages and monitors projects from inception to completion, assuring satisfactory completion and coordinates with all functional departments and with upper-level management. The Engineering Manager also focuses on hiring, engaging, and developing a high performing team.RESPONSIBILITIES:Reviews go-to-market strategies. Leads customer calls and manages daily activities related to engagements. Aligns team needs with customer needsManages highly complex, large projects. Influences and recommends changes to the strategy, processes, and operations for a product or multiple products/teamsDrives portfolio of product offerings and technology solutions to ensure material margins for business meet/exceed objectives. These include technology building blocks, product platforms, derivative products and sustaining activitiesUpdates key stakeholders on project status; drives metrics and goals to monitor performance and effectivenessWorks with marketing and customers to develop product proposals that meet these needsUncover and assess projects risks and develop effective mitigation plans and escalation pathsManages and provides work direction and priorities to project teamsWorks with manufacturing locations and supply chain groups to implement cost reductions, manufacturability improvements, and quality improvements for existing productsInteract with other departments and teams to achieve objectives and improve processesDevelops goals, manages performance, and coaches/mentors’ technical resourcesWorks with direct reports to set and monitor fair but challenging objectivesCompletes meaningful employee reviews through continuous feedback and regular formal reviews; mentors and develops the skills of project teams and direct reportsEnsures smooth and effective cross-functional and cross-site working relationshipsCommunicates clearly and listens to ensure better decision making and changes in strategy/direction, if requiredEnsures clear escalation paths are defined and executed, if program KPI is at risk, drives early assessment/resolution to prevent impact to project schedule or performanceSets up regular phase exit reviews with all stakeholders as part of PDP processEnsures proper meeting and project governance - relevant agendas, attendees, regularity, clear outcomes with trackable, time and resource identified actions clearly recorded and distributedContributes to the annual operating plan cost center budgetMonitors project costs and CAPEX spend budget monthly to ensure limited overspend/underspendEnsure authorization for spend required is in place to meet objectivesWORK ENVIRONMENT:Location: Wilmington, MA; Must be able to travel occasionally (10-25%) domestically and internationally as required.Environment: Works in a noisy, fast-paced power development lab and standard office environment   Flexibility working across time zones as part of a global team, as required.Interfaces with internal and external customersQUALIFICATIONS:Proven leadership experienceProven experience in developing and executing project budgetsStrong organizational and project management skills.High level of consultative, interpersonal, communication, and presentations skills.Strong global awareness and diversity of thought and experiencesHigh proficiency with Microsoft office applications including PowerPoint and SharePoint. Highly customer-focused, collaborative and able to develop strong relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.EXPERIENCE:                                   8+ years minimum experience in an electronics development environmentPrevious experience in leading/managing engineering projects or engineering teamsStrong background in establishing and managing meaningful relationshipsEDUCATION:                                                                                     Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalentAdvanced Degree, such as master’s in engineering or MBA preferredCOMPENSATION:                As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $160,000 to $180,000 per year.  BENEFITS:As part of our total rewards philosophy, we believe in offering and maintaining competitive compensation and benefits programs for our employees to attract and retain a talented, highly engaged workforce. Our compensation programs are focused on equitable, fair pay practices including market-based base pay, an annual pay-for-performance incentive plan for eligible positions, and a discounted Employee Stock Purchase Plan.  In addition to our competitive compensation practices, we offer a strong benefits package in each of the countries in which we operate.
