Job Description
As Isla Porter expands, we are seeking to build our team of design experts. We are looking for a Product or millwork designer to play a pivotal role in the design and development of our assortment. This role is perfect for an individual who is experienced in designing detailed millwork, has a deep understanding of product construction, mass manufacturing and who thrives in a collaborative environment. Your contributions will help shape the evolution of kitchen designs and support our mission to revolutionize the industry.
Key Responsibilities
• Innovate and contribute to the Isla Porter product line, coordinating closely with vendors and our SAAS provider to ensure product excellence.
• Spearhead product development, managing timelines, tracking updates, and ensuring accuracy in vendor drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with our sales and design teams to assess new product needs and develop new SKUs that enhance our offerings.
• Regularly interface with vendors to stay updated on catalog enhancements and ensure seamless communication with our SAAS provider.
• Take ownership of product design projects, ensuring timely completion with the help of vendors, freelancers, and consultants.
• Develop educational resources and SOPs to inform our team about the unique features of the Isla Porter line.
• Assist in planning and designing new showrooms, selecting FF&E
• Support generation of modeled assets to be used in sales materials and website.
Qualifications:
• Proven ability to develop innovative design content with meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience in creating technical specifications and drawings for manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of wood properties and cabinet construction.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering to visually communicate design ideas, with a preference for skills in Rhino, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite. Familiarity with Chief Architect, SketchUp, Design2020, or ProKitchen is advantageous.
• Experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment; comfortable with a hybrid remote work model. 1-2 days a week in office at East Hanover, New Jersey headquarters is required.
• At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in product design within the home furnishings or custom millwork sectors.
• Major pluses for experience in mass manufacturing and custom or semi custom millwork catalog management, past collaboration with architects, interior designers or design build firms
