It is comprised of regulated utility and non-utility businesses. Our two regulated utilities (DTE Electric and DTE Gas) serve more than 3 million customers in Southeastern Michigan. Our non-utility businesses include DTE Energy Trading and DTE Vantage.DTE Energy is seeking ambitious, energetic individuals to join its Corporate Strategy group in Detroit. The group is comprised of former consultants from top-tier strategy firms, investment bankers, finance professionals, and recent MBA graduates. The group is led by the VP of Corporate Strategy who reports to DTE's Sr VP of Corporate Strategy and Regulatory Affairs and is an important feeder of top talent for the company.Key AccountabilitiesThe Corporate Strategy group works with all DTE businesses to address the complex challenges facing the energy industry today. As a Senior Associate in the group, the candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to multi-disciplinary teams engaged in strategic initiatives. Examples include:Understanding industry trends and their implications for DTE, e.g., by assessing the impact of new technologies like distributed energy resources on the company's operations and bottom lineAnalyzing the value and the risks of major capital investments, such as the rebuilding of the electric grid and developing DTE's long-term technology investment strategySupporting corporate-level M&A activity, e.g., by playing a leadership role in the Separation Management Office during DTE's recent spin-off of DT MidstreamDriving efforts to transform our operations, through cost and rate benchmarking and by driving efforts to improve productivity and work management processes in our operating businesses; andFacilitating senior management's strategic planning process, including the preparation of the annual strategic Board offsite discussionsMinimum Education & Experience RequirementsThe successful candidate should be intellectually aggressive and accustomed to expressing well thought out and supported views to drive strategic decision making, and will possess the following credentials:MBA or a Master's Degree/PhD in a relevant field from a top-tier university, ideally combined with an undergraduate degree in an analytical field (e.g., engineering or economics)One to two years of post-MBA experience, ideally in management consulting, investment banking or other highly rigorous environmentsOther QualificationsPreferred:A positive, team-oriented attitude with the confidence to communicate persuasively and effectively at all levels and to coordinate and utilize all available resourcesAbility to lead and motivate highly talented individualsAbility to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment and deliver results against tight timelinesAbility to communicate results to senior management verbally and written in a clear and logical mannerHigh level of integrity, accountability, confidenceSolid understanding of the energy industry and the challenges it is facingPhysical Demands & Working ConditionsThe physical demands characterized here epitomize those that must be met by an employee to properly perform the integral functions of this job.
