Key Responsibilities:

  • Automated Welding Systems: Design, implement, and optimize automated welding systems to enhance productivity, quality, and consistency in manufacturing processes.
  • Weld Tip Management: Oversee and manage weld tip changes, ensuring optimal performance, reduced downtime, and extended tip life. Analyze wear patterns and implement strategies for improvement.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve welding processes to reduce cycle times, improve weld quality, and lower production costs. Implement best practices and innovative solutions.
  • Quality Control: Monitor welding quality through regular inspections, testing, and analysis. Develop and maintain welding standards and procedures to ensure compliance with industry and company specifications.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Provide technical support for troubleshooting welding issues, both in manual and automated systems. Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure proper functioning of welding equipment.
  • New Product Launches: Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to support the introduction of new products, ensuring weld processes are robust and scalable.
  • Training & Development: Train and mentor welding technicians and operators on best practices, new technologies, and safety protocols related to welding processes.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all welding operations comply with relevant safety regulations and company policies. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and reduce risk.
  • Project Management: Lead or participate in projects related to equipment installation, process upgrades, and technology integration. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals on time and within budget.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum [X] years of experience in welding engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of automated welding systems and experience with weld tip changes is essential.
  • Proficiency in welding techniques, materials science, and welding standards (e.g., AWS, ISO).
  • Experience with robotic welding systems, CNC programming, and PLCs is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on process optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
