Length of assignments will vary and are on an as needed basis. Day, swing, and graveyard shifts. Under supervision, the Custodian performs a wide variety of custodial duties for cleaning assigned areas, rooms, buildings, or office space. It differs from the class of Lead Custodian in that the latter has lead supervisory responsibilities. This is the working level of the custodial series. Incumbents are generally expected to be able to use standard cleaning materials and equipment in the performance of their duties. This position is represented by the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 39.Duties & Responsibilities: Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions of this class. Noise and vibrations are experienced in the operation of cleaning and maintenance equipment.
