Assistant Shared Services ManagerThe Town of Needham's Public Health Division seeks an engaged individual for the grant-funded position of Assistant Shared Services Manager. This role provides support in the management of the Public Health Excellence programs including the Charles River Public Health District (CRPHD, a collaborative agreement among the towns of Needham, Dover, Sherborn, and Medfield) and the North Central MetroWest Local Public Health Training Hub, made up of forty-three communities in Eastern Massachusetts. This role serves as a trainer and primary contact for local public health officials in designing and implementing state and individualized programs and initiatives within each partner community. The Assistant Shared Services Manager oversees three employees and is required to serve as part of the environmental health response team in emergency scenarios. The ideal candidate is eager to build and maintain strong relationships with municipal employees and officials, community-based organizations, and other training hub providers to ensure the success of programs, education, and outreach efforts. Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Term position through 6/30/2027, extension contingent upon grant funding. CON #26024These duties are a general summary and not all inclusive:Work with public health staff within the CRPHD municipalities to design and implement program initiatives and special projects to improve health outcomes, including, but not limited to training, communication, education and ongoing programming, community outreach strategies, research projects, advocacy efforts, and grant writing.Develop and deliver training plans that are flexible and responsive, and which fit the needs of both training staff and attendees. Implement training plans, periodically re-evaluating and, where appropriate, adjusting to meet changing regional needs.Work closely with staff from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) Office of Local and Regional Health (OLRH), the MA DPH Bureau of Climate and Environmental Health (BCEH) and the MA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and other applicable State partners to assess training needs of and training sites in the Training Hub's assigned communities.Assist the Shared Services Manager in the management of the Local Public Health Training Hub and Public Health Excellence/Shared Services grants, including preparing an annual budget, regularly monitoring spending, and assuring compliance with grant deliverables and all grant reporting requirements and deadlines.Convene regular check-in meetings with municipal public health department, regional/shared public health staff, and, where appropriate, elected or appointed Boards of Health to ensure that shared public health services and trainings meet their needs and expectations in achieving and maintaining Performance Standards as part of the State Action for Public Health Excellence program.Maintain up to date knowledge of federal, state, and local inspection guidance and ongoing/emerging public health issues affecting compliance to support public health partners and community members; maintain/seek relevant credentialing including the required centralized MDPH OLRH training to become a Training Hub trainer.Assist in the Community Health Assessments and Improvement Planning (CHIP) process for community skills assessments, as they arise.Requirements:Completion of the MA Local Public Health Foundations Course or demonstrated progress toward completionCertified Food Manager and MA Food Allergen Awareness certificationValid Driver's License with the ability to travel independently throughout eastern Massachusetts.The following additional requirements may be substituted by any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job:Completion of Bachelor's Degree Program in public health, environmental health or related fieldAt least four years of related work experience in sanitation, environmental health or related fieldsPreferred Qualifications or the Ability to Obtain the Following:Credentialing or licensure as a MA Registered Sanitarian (RS/REHS) or a Certified Health Official (CHO) or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hireA Master's degree in Public Health or a related field is preferredA background in policy development, community engagement, and/or health education attained through either work experience or a graduate degree is highly desiredMA Soil Evaluator, MA Title V System Inspector, MA Lead Determinator, or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) preferredMembership and active participation in one or more public health professional associations is desiredExperience preparing, writing, and submitting grants preferredTo apply, please submit your resume, cover letter, and application by clicking "Apply."
