As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will report to the CEO and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance, and private and institutional financing. The role will report to the Chief Executive Officer.


Key Responsibilities:


Fundraising Leadership:

  • Drive the company’s fundraising efforts, including strategy development, storytelling, financial planning, investor engagement, and managing due diligence processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the financial community and potential investors.


Board Relations:

  • Lead communications with the board of directors regarding financial planning, budget management, and the company's growth strategy.
  • Ensure that board materials and communications accurately reflect the financial condition and operating performance, fostering transparency and accountability.


Equity and Financial Management:

  • Direct the equity management process, including the administration of employee stock options, ensuring regulatory compliance and strategic tax planning.
  • Conduct the first and subsequent 409A valuations, and manage the option pool budget effectively.


Strategic Oversight:

  • Develop credible financial models and business strategies that align with the company’s goals.
  • Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities and decisions.


Operational Finance:

  • Oversee the management of accounting operations, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the company's financial systems are robust, compliant, and support current activities and future growth.


Corporate Governance:

  • Lead all aspects of corporate governance relating to financial operations, ensuring compliance with statutory and fiscal regulations.
  • Act as the chief financial spokesperson for the organization, representing the company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, public auditors, and officials.


Vendor and IT Management:

  • Establish key vendor relationships, including legal counsel, banking partners, and tax advisors, to support the company's operational and strategic needs.
  • Oversee the information technology strategy, ensuring the infrastructure meets the company's operational and security requirements.


Facility and Real Estate Oversight:

  • Manage the company's facilities and real estate requirements, including leasing strategies and budgeting to optimize the company's physical presence.


Legal and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Oversee the drafting and negotiation of legal contracts and ensure the company adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements.


Leadership in Sales Operations:

  • Spearhead the development and implementation of a CRM system that aligns with the company's sales and marketing strategies.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.
  • Well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • An articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills.
  • A decisive individual who possesses a "big picture" perspective and is well versed in systems.
  • CPA or MBA preferred, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position with progressively increasing responsibilities.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting. MBA, CPA, or CFA strongly preferred.


Experience:

  • A minimum of 15 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in a high-growth environment.
