PSYCHIATRIST


Position Overview:

The staff psychiatrist provides direct care including assessment, diagrams, treatment planning, crisis intervention and medication management for patients when clinically indicated


Key Responsibilities:

·      Review and approve medically necessary treatment for patients requiring mental health treatment

·      Provide direct care patient assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention and medication management

·      Provide guidance on patient medical matters

·      Provide consultation and clinical supervision for individual and collective clinical staff and patients

·      Provide timely record keeping and documentation of all prescriber services

·      Crisis consultation on emergencies and coverage/consultation for patients in the absence of prescriber on site

·      Assist with development and review of all medical and psychiatric policies, procedures, and protocols

·      Provide peer-to-peer reviews and assist with appeals for denial of care for patients

·      Available for the support of nursing staff in issues of medication

·      Maintain accurate records assuring that all Center policies and procedures are followed

·      Attend clinical rounds, monthly Performance Improvement Committee meeting and quality assurance


Qualifications:

·      Board certification in psychiatry

·      Licensed psychiatrist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

·      Strong clinical communication, leadership, and organizational skills

·      Experience in working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

·      Ability to create policies regarding medical, psychiatric, and medication

·      Experience with peer-to-peer reviews with third party payers

·      Background in eating disorders treatment is preferred

·      Experience with both adults and adolescents is preferred
