Job title: COBOL Mainframe Developer Location: Atlanta, GA Duration: 8 months Note: Job description: Client is seeking an experienced COBOL Mainframe Programmer/Developer to support mission-critical applications within a complex mainframe environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, and Control-M , along with the ability to translate business requirements into reliable and efficient programming solutions. This role includes application maintenance, enhancements, analysis, testing, and production support. You will work in a fast-paced consulting environment and contribute to large-scale modernization initiatives, including supporting the transition from mainframe COBOL applications to web-based platforms. Responsibilities Translate analysis, design documents, and technical specifications into well-structured COBOL programs. Maintain and enhance custom-developed software, including data entry screens, batch jobs, reports, menus, and queries. Review existing code, data structures, and business processes to support non-database application functions. Develop, run, and validate test cases to ensure accurate functionality of all program changes. Identify and correct data issues through application logic; generate analysis and summary reports using IBM and Microsoft tools. ssist in modernizing legacy COBOL applications into web-based systems. Prepare comprehensive program-level and user documentation. Optimize and enhance applications to improve efficiency and reduce processing time. Follow organization standards for code checkout, version control, migration, and deployment. Collaborate with end users to obtain sign-off prior to moving changes to production. Required Experience & Skills 5+ years of hands-on experience in COBOL development on IBM or Dell mainframe systems. Strong experience with COBOL, DB2, JCL, Control-M . Solid understanding of the full SDLC (design, development, integration testing, deployment). bility to troubleshoot, debug, and test complex programs. Strong analytical ability to support non-database functions and data correction logic. Experience preparing detailed technical and user documentation. Excellent communication skills for working with business users and obtaining approvals. bility to follow enterprise code management and deployment procedures.
