Underwriting AnalystThis position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing underwriting information to determine if individual risks meet corporate underwriting standards. Accepts, declines, or modifies policies written by the agency force while providing superior customer service.ResponsibilitiesReview applications, re-inspections and policy changes to evaluate, classify, terminate and/or modify policies according to underwriting guidelines.Acquire and maintain knowledge of applicable policy contracts, endorsements, forms, manuals, coding information and other material pertinent to this position.Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with agency force and state office personnelCommunicate with agency force in an effective and collaborative mannerUse Motor Vehicle, Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange Reports and other investigative reports to determine the acceptability of the risk.Review and understand statistical information such as loss ratios and other company reports.Assist agency staff with new systems and procedures.Counsel with policyholders by phone and in person if needed.Participate in departmental or organizational projects as needed.Return telephone calls and other correspondence promptly and with courtesy.Participate in all internal company training and continuing educationComply with Company Guidelines as defined in the Underwriting Manuals.Responsible for production and profitability of business in assigned agencies.Participate in specific company directives focusing on profitability.Attend and participate in meetings as required.Regular and predictable attendance.This list of essential functions is non-exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.
