Senior AccountantA well-established agriculture and food production company in Valley Center is seeking a skilled Senior Accountant to support financial operations for a high-volume, seasonally dynamic business. This is an excellent role for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting, cost analysis, and collaborating across operational departments. The Senior Accountant will work closely with production, logistics, and senior leadership to oversee month-end close, inventory costing, financial reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience in agriculture, food manufacturing, or another inventory-heavy environment.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliationsManage inventory costing, vendor reconciliations, and cost-of-goods-sold analysisPrepare financial reports for leadership, including variance explanations and KPI trackingSupport budgeting, forecasting, and seasonal planningHandle fixed asset tracking, depreciation schedules, and equipment purchase documentationAssist operations and production management with financial insights and cost improvement initiativesStrengthen internal controls and streamline accounting proceduresSupport external audits and regulatory complianceRequirements5+ years of experience in accounting; agriculture or manufacturing preferred. Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory systems. Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or SAP Business One. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling). Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
