About the role Join CLARA Analytics as a Senior Software Engineer, Applications and help us build AI-powered products that are revolutionizing the insurance industry. Reporting into the AVP of Engineering for Applications, you'll work across our full technology stack using Java, Spring, Angular, and AWS to build products ranging from robust microservices to analytics dashboards that surface AI-driven insights for insurers. If you're a skilled senior engineer who wants to make a meaningful impact at a growing startup that's defining the future of insurance claims, we want to hear from you What you'll do Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Management, Design, and Data Science) to design, develop, and implement high-quality features across the entire software stack front end and back end. Drive technical decisions around data modeling, API design, and technology selection across our AWS-native architecture. Lead the design and implementation of robust microservices using Java and Spring Boot to power our analytics applications. Build responsive, data-rich frontend applications using Angular and TypeScript, focusing on data intelligence and analytics dashboards. Develop and optimize database schemas and queries for AWS RDS (MySQL/Postgres) and Elastic Cloud. Research and recommend technical improvements that enhance our analytics capabilities and product features. Participate in technical planning and contribute to our engineering culture and development processes. What Were Looking For... Required 6+ years developing production applications using Java, Spring frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring MVC) Strong proficiency in Angular and TypeScript with experience in modern front-end tooling for building complex, data-driven UX Strong API design skills with RESTful principles, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, and secure authentication flows AWS ecosystem expertise: S3, Lambda, SAM, RDS (MySQL/PostgreSQL), Elastic Cloud, IAM, and CloudFormation Database design and optimization experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL for analytics and reporting applications Knowledge of event-driven architectures using AWS Lambda, SQS, and SNS Ability to lead complex architectural decisions and technical investigations and effectively communicate trade-offs to both technical and business stakeholders Take ownership of features from conception to deployment, working autonomously across teams to deliver impactful solutions that drive business outcomes Preferred CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Gitlab), Docker containerization, and infrastructure as code (Terraform) Experience with Elasticsearch and Elastic Cloud for search and analytics use cases Experience with AWS monitoring, logging, and observability tools (CloudWatch, X-Ray) Previous experience in the insurance or healthcare tech industries, especially at a startup Background in insurance or healthcare analytics where you've built data solutions that improved underwriting accuracy, claims processing efficiency, or fraud detection What We Offer...
