The position of Counselor shall be held by a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP), licensed in

the state of Louisiana, as employed by the Administrator and/or Clinical Director. Counselors shall have

the education and experience necessa1y to provide counseling services for the Clients.

REQUIREMENTS

A Counselor is an LMHP who:

I. Has a master's degree in social work or counseling from an accredited university or equivalent

education in the treatment of addictive disorders

2. Maintains a current and unrestricted license with his/her respective professional board or

licensing authority in the state of Louisiana

RESPONSIBILITIES

A Counselor has the following assigned responsibilities:

I. Provides direct care to families utilizing the core competencies of addiction counseling and/or

mental health counseling

2. Serves as family counselor for up to 20 families.

3. Works 40 hours a week.

4. Serves as a resource person for other professionals in his/her specific area of expertise

5. Co-signs all notes written by students, interns, and unlicensed professionals under his/her

supervision

6. Assists with any family related issues, conflicts, evaluations, and other follow up as needed

7. Facilitate the Parent Group as needed

8. Prepares for and facilitate a weekly group with residents.

9. Prepares and writes notes or other documents related to treatment and recovery (e.g., assessment,

progress notes, treatment plans, discharge, etc.) within 48 hours of intervention/contact.

I 0. Collaborates will all disciplines to ensure the highest quality of care for clients

11. Collaborates with the clinical team on family specific issues

12. Pe1fonns other duties and special projects as required

REPORTING AND ACCOUNTABILITY
