SUMMARY The Mechanical Designer will provide mechanical/HVAC design services on a variety of commercial building projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Mechanical technical drafting and design on assigned projects Assist in the production of construction documents (drawings and specifications) for new buildings and for renovations and additions to existing facilities Perform quality control process relative to project responsibilities on assigned projects Perform initial site investigations and observations of work done by the installing contractor(s) related to contracted projects Provide coordination of project designs with other disciplines Maintain assigned project schedules Develop and maintain positive client relationships Additional duties as assigned COMPETENCIES Analytical thinking - analyzing and synthesizing complex situations and information to understand issues, identify options and support sound decision making Attention to detail - working in a conscientious, consistent and thorough manner Client focus - provides added value through service excellence to internal and external clients Continuous learning - identifying and addressing learning and developmental need to enhance own performance Job ownership - making decisions involving various levels of risk and ambiguity Results management - organizes time, work and resources to accomplish objectives in the most effect and efficient way Teamwork - working collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledgeable in: Ductwork layouts, wiring diagrams, equipment schedules Related building and mechanical codes Sustainable design practices Developing construction documents using Revit Skilled in: Excellent verbal and written communication Excellent time management Ability to: Work with customers and client base Work in a team-based environment Meet deadlines, successful completion of deliverables Communicate and work well with other departments Work under pressure Think analytically and thoroughly, while being resourceful and detail-oriented Focus on team and customer service Be continuously self-motivated, hardworking, flexible REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Completion of a high school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) Proficient in the use of Autodesk Revit Two (2) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanical design Basic proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Minimum of two (2) years of experience in HVAC/plumbing design in the MEP field Advanced proficiency in the use of Revit, AutoCAD and Design Master Project Management experience a plus PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work indoors in an office setting. Must be capable of occasionally climbing ladders and of traversing obstacles. Regularly required to type, file, or lift office supplies up to 20 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to visit construction sites, traverse uneven surfaces, and wear a hard hat. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
