UNDERSTANDING

The shop-Machinist is a key contributor as an internal resource to help in maintaining and supporting all our equipment in any type of fabrication and or reverse engineering of parts and components to maintain our manufacturing process running effectively.


SCOPE

The Shop-Machinist reports to the maintenance manager and works seamlessly with other departments to machine, measure, reverse engineer, design, follow GDT drawings as directed by supervisors or managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs all work in a manner that is safe, following all safety procedures and requirements.
  • Perform cycle counts of inventoried tools and equipment as well as stock consumables.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Communicate with supervisors on equipment status daily.
  • Provide training or instruction of use of tools and or equipment.
  • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
  • Mark facility tools and equipment using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Keep records of the use or damage of stock or stock-handling equipment.
  • Work with all departments on inventory of consumables and safety stock levels.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
  • Enter work order data in CMMS program.
  • Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output.
  • Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.
  • Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
  • Select appropriate machines (e.g., lathes) and position or load material for a job.
  • Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues.
  • Determine and program the size of batches and speed of machine.
  • Monitor output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
  • Regular and timely attendance
  • Must be able to maintain sanitary conditions for Food Safety.
  • Must have basic math skills (with use of a calculator)
  • Must be able to read and interpret weight scale readings and tape measures.
  • Must be able to lift up-to 25 pounds consistently and 70 pounds on occasion.
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of a 12-hour shift with applicable breaks.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in verifiable skilled trade


EDUCATION

  • Must have a High School Diploma or a G.E.D.
