Amazon XL Warehouse Equipment OperatorYou'll be part of the Amazon warehouse team that handles the big and heavy stuffthose unique customer orders that require powered industrial trucks (PIT) to move around the warehouse: big screen TVs, furniture, appliances, and more. Whether you're interested in working as a forklift operator, equipment operator, order picker, or reach truck operator, this position is perfectyou'll use powered industrial trucks (PIT) to move, stow, and retrieve extra-large items throughout the warehouse. You will learn to expertly handle packages and products before they are sent along their delivery route.Some of your duties may include:Operate PIT at heights up to 45 feetUse PIT to locate, retrieve, and store large inventory items and customer orders in their designated warehouse locationsHandle extra-large items that weigh over 50 pounds through multiple warehouse processes: stowing, picking, loading, and unloadingSafely maneuver heavy items using carts, dollies and pallet jacks while loading and unloading trailersUse handheld technology to track and maintain accurate inventory recordsYou'll also need to be able to:Lift up to 49 poundsUse safe practices and methods to handle products heavier than 50 poundsStand and walk, as well as push, pull, squat, bend, and reach frequently during shiftsUse carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items aroundGo up and down stairs (where applicable)Meet daily performance goals while following all safety proceduresWhat it's like at an Amazon XL Warehouse:Safety. Your safety is important to us, so we provide protective gear. All teams share safety tips daily.Surroundings. You'll be operating and working around moving machines order pickers, stand-up forklifts, turret trucks, and mobile carts.Activity. In addition to sitting and standing while operating equipment, some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs.Temperature. Even with climate controls, temperatures can vary between 60F and 90F in some parts of the warehouse; on hot days, temperatures can be over 90F in the truck yard or inside trailers.Noise level. It can get noisy at times. We provide hearing protection if you need it.Dress code. Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for safety. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required and protective safety footwear are required in select business units.
