Our firm has been exclusively retained by a U.S. based Private Equity backed Manufacturing Company to find a Plant Manager to oversee plant operations near Johnson City, TN. Our client is a specialty manufacturer in metal fabrication and assembly generating approximately $110 million in revenue. Candidates must have proven leadership experience and be able to lead a headcount of at least 300+. Must be experienced and knowledgeable in continuous improvement to go with analytical skills to successfully impact materials management, material flow, cost improvement, and quality improvements. The best candidate backgrounds are most likely from automotive, aerospace, heavy equipment, or other metal fabrication and assembly business. Our client is targeting a compensation package of up to $200k base, an annual target bonus plus full relocation, and generous benefits. Our client will stretch for the right candidate if needed.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead plant operations by motivating and developing skills of managerial personnel to foster productivity, growth, and higher morale, through a team environment.
  • Attend and participate in work order and sales order meetings.
  • Lead production planning meetings.
  • Full P&L responsibility and oversight with plant level finance, HR, and supply chain reporting to this position
  • Manage and lead continuous improvement with all available tools including Six Sigma, 5S, 5 Why, Gemba walks, Kaizen events, KPIs, Paretos, and analysis
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities ensuring production and quality of products that meet specifications, delivery timing, and customer satisfaction.
  • Improve profitability and efficiency, especially around inventory management


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field is required.
  • Legitimate previous turnaround experience required
  • MBA or other Master’s degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of manufacturing leadership, and 10+ years experience in operations management
  • Strong and proven background in plant operations, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Excellent oral communication skills are required, including the ability to chair meetings, make presentations, and speak equally as well in either the board room or the shop floor.
