Transportation Construction InspectorJMT's Virginia Construction Management Team is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector to apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.Performs routine tests on concrete, soils and other materialsMeasure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.Gathers and maintains record documentsMakes field notes and computationsNonessential Functions and Responsibilities:Perform other related duties as assignedRequired SkillsStrong Computer proficiencyActive driver's licenseMust successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screeningRequired ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)1-4 years of Construction Inspection ExperiencePreferred Experience:Associate's or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction ManagementClient Requested certifications (VDOT: Soils & Aggregate, Asphalt I & II, Pavement Marking, GRIT; DEQ: E&S and SWM Inspector; Intermediate Workzone; Nuclear Safety; ACI-Concrete Field Tech)Working Conditions:Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
