Project Manager - Water Business - Northern CaliforniaBlack & Veatch is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a well-established and expanding water/wastewater team in Northern California. The Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for leading our State and Local Government and Water business with clients in Northern California. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing client and pursuit strategies, relationship management, leading business development activities, overall business financial management, contract management, and ensuring client satisfaction. The Client Director is accountable for meeting new business and earnings financial goals; development of strong relationships with clients, teaming partners and contractors; driving business development; and selling the Black & Veatch full suite of services.Black & Veatch is a leading engineering, consulting and construction company. We serve public and private clients of every size with a strong focus on life cycle economy, efficiency and reliability.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and implement Client Development Plans for assigned clientsDevelop and maintain strong relationships with assigned clients, business partners, and competitorsDevelop client and pursuit strategiesLead or support proposal developmentMake Go / No Go decisions or recommendations and assist with preparation of Proposal Review Board documentsServe as the Client Director and provide leadership to project and pursuit teamsMeet new business and earnings financial goalsManage assigned business development budgetManage contracts and legal issuesManage and mitigate risksIdentify key client interests and drivers on projects and pursuits and communicate with team membersLeverage professional networking skills to help identify and pursue project opportunitiesSupervise and mentor project team membersManagement ResponsibilitiesActs as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Business Management or a related fieldPrefer 10+ years professional experience managing a multi-disciplinary team to deliver new business for water and wastewater utility and state and local government projectsPrevious consulting experienceProficiency with computer software, including MS Office Suite and Project SoftwareExperience preparing proposals; negotiating and managing contracts; managing project budgets, costs and accounts receivablesExperience with planning, delegation, directing others and conflict managementExperience dealing with ambiguity and building effective teamsClient Focus:Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on complex projectsCommunicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on complex projectsActively lead business development and development of strategies for client pursuit activitiesPeople Management - (supervision, career development, training, mentoring): Assist with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions as requiredMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience.All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.Work Environment/Physical DemandsHybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.Typical office environment, typical construction environment, extreme weather conditions, high noise level, safety hazards (electric currents, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation).
