The resident camp LPN is responsible for overseeing the health and safety of all campers and staff. The LPN will provide medical treatment to campers and staff in case of illness or emergencies, and maintain communication with parents where applicable, under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse. The LPN will also complete the medical check-in process of all campers, keep and review medical records, maintain and order medical equipment for the camp, distribute camper medication, and ensure that sanitation and safety practices are maintained throughout the camp.

Hidden Lake Camp: Our Camps are unique and shaped by the physical, and outdoor spaces in which they take place, the team-building nature of our activities, and the welcoming environment that we strive to create. Nestled on four hundred acres in the southern portion of the Adirondack Park, Hidden Lake Camp comprises a small private lake, streams, low mountains, woodlands, and beautiful hiking trails. The lake is an ideal setting for swimming, canoeing, and stand-up paddle-boarding, and kayaking. Camp facilities include a large playfield, high and low ropes courses, platform tents and lean-to units, a modern dining hall, a health lodge, a shower house, and buildings for activities and programs. Campers range from first through twelfth grade.


Summer Camp dates at Hidden Lake Camp are July 7 – August 2, 2024. All positions include room and board. Camp staff are generally off from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon each week. Employees who complete their contract in good standing are eligible for a $150 retention bonus.


GSNENY operates two summer overnight camps; Hidden Lake Camp in Lake George, NY and Lake Clear camp near Saranac Lake, NY. Many staff positions can be combined to work at both camps for a full summer of employment (July 7 - August 16). We are open to hiring individuals who are interested in working individual weeks at either camp. Contact us for more information


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

· Provide health care to meet the individual needs of camp staff and campers by following health care policies and procedures as described in the American Camp Association standards and Health Department regulations.

· Distribute, administer, and/or oversee the self-administration of medications to campers and staff, under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse.

· Maintain proper storage of medications and health records within health lodge.

· Ensure the camp health lodge is inventoried and order all necessary supplies and equipment prior to the start of the resident camp season.

· Adhere to any COVID-19 protocols required by NYS Department of Health and GSNENY.

· Screen or oversee the screening of all campers and staff who are arriving at camp, including verifying health history and emergency authorization, identifying any observable evidence of illness or communicable disease, conducting a health assessment, and collecting all medications used by campers or staff. Oversee COVID-related pre-screenings for campers and staff.

· Maintain a clean and organized health lodge throughout the duration of camp.

· Maintain accurate and detailed medical records that are in compliance with New York State and American Camp Association standards.

· Understand and utilize Jotform, our online medical record keeping platform.

· Prepare and utilize daily medical logs for treatment and medications, including gathering and documenting first aid records from staff members.

· Ensure camper and staff health examinations are current and on file.

· Prepare and record insurance and accident report forms.

· Maintain knowledge about the facility and its emergency action plan and activate the emergency action plan when necessary; respond to on-site incidents and accidents. Follow reporting procedures to the Camp Director. Utilize CPR and First Aid consistent with training and certification.

· Prepare and distribute first aid kids throughout the camp, including to the units, camp vehicles, kitchen, offices, waterfront, and activity areas, ensuring supplies are re-stocked as needed.

· Deliver an orientation session during staff training on medical services; ensure the camp staff know their role procedures, emergency procedures, staff health assessment of campers, mental, emotional, and social health (MESH) procedures, accident prevention, and procedures for giving first aid in the camp setting.

· Supervise sanitary conditions throughout camp, observing the daily cleanliness in the food service facility, and reporting any health problems, such as symptoms of illness, to the Camp Director.

· Coordinate with Kitchen staff and other staff as needed for camper specific dietary needs, or other special circumstances.

· Contact caregivers of camper concerning the status of their child’s health during any notable health condition, such as an injury requiring x-ray, a stay in the infirmary, emergency treatment or accident.

· Coordination with camper’s health care provider for additional care of camper, as needed.

· Act as a leader and role model to other staff members through use of excellent customer service skills, maintaining a professional demeanor and positive, upbeat disposition, maintaining the tenets of the Girl Scout Law, and communicating with other staff members in a way that is positive and encouraging.

· Assist with weekly camp clean up, including sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, trash pick-up, etc.

· Records time worked on timecard daily. Signs and submits timecard weekly on Friday.


· Key Qualifications –

· Be at least 21 years of age.

· Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)

· Knowledge of and experience working with children in a medical setting.

· Ability to maintain health records.

· Ability to administer medication.

· CPR/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer Certification or other certification deemed appropriate by NYS Department of Health

· Responding to Emergencies First Aid, Wilderness and Remote First Aid, or other certification deemed appropriate by NYS Department of Health

· Believe in the Girl Scout mission.

· Possess good character, integrity, patience, sense of humor, enthusiasm, and willingness to be a part of the camp community.

Weekly pay ranges from$1900-$2000 and room and board is included.
