Overview The Wound Care Nurse Practitioner (WCNP) is a highly skilled advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) specializing in the prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of complex wounds. The WCNP will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive wound care services to patients with chronic and acute wounds.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive wound assessments, including medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic testing.
- Develop and implement individualized wound care plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Perform advanced wound care procedures such as debridement, bioapatite dressings, negative pressure wound therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
- Manage chronic wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, and arterial ulcers.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Educate patients and caregivers about wound care, prevention, and self-management.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research studies.
- Adhere to all relevant legal and regulatory standards for wound care practice.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing with a specialization in Wound Care or related field.
- WOCN Certification
- Current and valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of New York
- Certification as a Wound Care Certified (WCC) or Advanced Wound Care Certified (AWCC) preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to educate patients and caregivers.
- Experience in wound care management preferred.
