As a Principal Software Engineer, youll be responsible for the overall delivery process of software applications or services, including design, development, testing, deployment, production application support (e.g., troubleshooting), and maintenance, with a focus on automation.Overview: Responsible for the overall delivery process of a software application or service, including design, development, testing, deployment, production application support (e.g., troubleshooting) and maintenance with a focus on automation.Key Roles and Responsibilities:Translate AI fundamentals into actionable engineering designs: integrate pre-trained models, optimize data pipelines, and apply prompt engineering or data fine-tuning strategies in collaboration with product stakeholders.Prototype AI-enhanced features rapidly, iterating in weeks not months, while ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with business goals.Collaborate with your team to design and build practical and extensible software solutions for future investment and growth.Communicate technical concepts clearly and creativelybridge AI technology and business value to create inspired conversation and alignment.Leverage a range of tools and programming languages (Java, Typescript, Python) to deliver on key software and service initiatives.Provide thoughtful planning and problem solvingwork with peer engineers to understand large complex problems and help deliver workable solutions. Execute core work in a self-guided manner while supporting peers and knowing when to ask for guidance/support.Engage in the traditional aspects of software development and planning like developing user stories, estimating effort, writing specifications, validating technical systems, considering security implications, and developing buy-in for significant technical efforts while developing software with well thought out testing plans and an understanding of business requirements.Architect modern solutions to identify and improve vulnerability posture across technology platforms at AT&T.Advocate best engineering practices, develop and implement strategies for reducing the lag between idea and production. Modernize continuous integration and continuous delivery tooling and processes.Work with stakeholders, customers, Enterprise Architects, Network Engineers, and development teams to align the architectural direction.Support production applications with a focus on monitoring AI integrations, troubleshooting issues, and continuously improving performance and user impact.Qualifications: Expert level technical professional with 8+ years of experience. High degree of proficiency in at least 3 of the following languages like Java, Typescript, Python and related server-side stacks. 1-2 years of experience applying AI or ML to software systems (e.g., integrating AI services, automating workflows, developing code insights). Strong knowledge in Application security, Authentication and Authorization framework. Experience with public cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP), modern deployment approaches, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience setting up Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines using tools like GitHub Enterprise, Spinnaker, Azure DevOps. Strong technical background and understanding of micro-service architecture and modern software delivery practices.
