Corporate Accountant

Corporate AccountantCorporate Accountants prepare, review, and reconcile financial information for various entities. They complete adjusting journal entries to the general ledger to ensure the financial statements accurately reflect operations for each business unit. Also, they assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements, maintenance of the corporate general ledger, and preparation and/or analysis of special reports.Job DutiesReviews financial statements to verify accuracy of transcriptions; prepares adjusting journal entries for each business unit to ensure financial statements accurately reflect operations (Essential)Assists management with addressing issues and/or questions related to the monthly financial operating results and provides analysis of actual vs. budget variances (Essential)Analyzes and reconciles the activities in balance sheet accounts such as cash, prepaid expenses, accrued receivables/payables and other assets/liabilities; prepares adjusting journal entries and schedules as needed (Essential)Prepares work papers for quarterly reviews and annual audits as assigned (Essential)Performs complex, multi-entity tasks that involve research and reconciliation of accounting data (Essential)Performs complex, multi-entity tasks that involve research and reconciliation of accounting dataAssists with the maintenance of the corporate general ledger and preparation of consolidated financial statementsPrepares accounting details and supporting documents for internal/external auditorsAssists with the preparation of annual operating budgets as neededPrepares various weekly and monthly financial reportsOther duties as assignedRequirementsBachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or related field (Required)3 years in accounting experience (Required)6 months in prior experience in multi-entity organizational structure (Preferred)Knowledge of advanced bookkeeping principles and practicesStrong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to follow complex verbal and written instructionsExcelled computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the ability to use email and internetMust have a valid driver's licenseBenefitsAt Sun Communities, you will be part of an industry-leading organization where you will be challenged, inspired, rewarded and transformed.
