SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer I-Solar with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide electrical technical support throughout the entire construction project.
  • Provide electrical engineering design drawings, including preparatory meetings, and QA/QC
  • Manage and lead the electrical engineering design and equipment procurement through the use of submittals, transmittals, and requests for information
  • Provide technical expertise to all parties concerned

Responsibilities:

Provide technical lead and support for electrical portions of work project
  • Determine the best layout of the collection system; including consideration of constraints such as overhead/underground, follow roads/cross country, and junction box locations
  • Review manufacturer's data to determine the extent of scope for the electrical portion of the project; including wiring requirements and electrical characteristics (i.e. grounding requirements, power factor ranges, lightning protection requirements, generator outputs, etc.)
  • Verify that construction understands the scope of the project during the bidding process and provides electrical engineering resources throughout the project
  • Communicate with local utilities to ensure the project can interconnect to the electrical grid
  • Perform loss calculations (100% output/annualized)
  • Develop one-line diagrams of the collection a system and substations, as well as standard details of electrical construction that are typical to Mortenson projects

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong teamworkorientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
  • Possess a basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  • Microsoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
  • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
  • Minimum three years in electrical construction management or electrical design
  • Working knowledge of the NEC code and NE safety code is a plus
  • Basic understanding of construction techniques and project management practices
  • Current driver's license
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
