Based in Arlington, VA, the Center is staffed with experienced professionals who conduct research, analysis, program evaluation, and strategic planning for private and public sector clients around the world in the following areas:Science and technology program development and support:Science, technology, and innovation policy developmentInnovation strategy and trainingComplex program evaluation and assessmentTechnology-based economic and workforce developmentAdvanced analytics in R&D analysisWe are looking for early Policy Research Analysts to work a hybrid work schedule (2 days in SRI office required, together with ad hoc client visits) from our Arlington, VA office.ResponsibilitiesAs part of CISP, the Research Analysts will contribute to science, technology, and innovation policy research, analysis, strategic planning, and evaluations, and help deliver novel solutions for a diverse range of clients:Specifically, the Research Analysts will:Execute project tasks (e.g., analyze data, conduct literature reviews, synthesize information, interview stakeholders, write reports and other documents) across multiple simultaneous projects under the direction of project leaders or other senior staff while managing time and project resources independentlySupport project leaders or other senior staff to envision, coordinate, and evaluate initiatives and policies related to science, technology, and innovationHelp project leaders develop appropriate methods to solve complex science, technology, and innovation policy problemsCommunicate the results of analyses clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to team members and clientsProduce pieces of well-written, high-quality reports and presentationsCollaborate well in small teamsApply a variety of analytic methods to a diverse range of qualitative and quantitative dataPerform administrative duties (scheduling, notetaking)Occasionally travel domestically and internationallyQualificationsU.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirementsBachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred, in a STEM field, public policy, or other policy-oriented field in the social sciences15 years of work experience in Federal government or Federal contracting environment, related to science, technology, and innovation within one or more of the following domains: science and innovation policy, technology strategy, technology transfer and commercialization, program evaluation, and data analysisExperience with R/Python programming, econometrics, and/or data visualization softwareDemonstrated attention to detail, including organizational and planning skills. Writing samples may be requested.Research experience involving both qualitative and quantitative methods, including policy review, stakeholder interviews, case studies, feasibility studies, and statistical analysisDemonstrated ability to: adapt to different roles based on project needs; work independently with minimal oversight; exercise critical thinkingEffective time management and ability to meet deadlinesAbility to communicate effectively and efficiently with team members and clientsThe salary range is: $72,445-$82,575. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
