Position Summary: Northstar Refrigeration seeks an experienced Senior Estimator with extensive HVAC and Refrigeration systems knowledge. This role drives growth and innovation in a rapidly expanding company.
Role Responsibilities:
- Oversee the estimating process, ensuring efficiency and exceeding client expectations.
- Build relationships with clients, designers, and subcontractors.
- Facilitate team collaboration and communication with management.
- Manage and mentor Assistant Estimators.
- Participate in business development activities, presentations, and interviews.
- Lead the Estimating team and act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Prepare quantity take-offs, apply unit pricing, and establish project value.
- Understand project scope through document review and stakeholder inquiries.
- Prepare value engineering, qualifications, and assumptions for estimates.
- Perform cost comparisons and reconcile with previous estimates.
- Manage subcontractor solicitation and selection.
- Prepare Exhibit B and scope sheets.
- Ensure quality control of bids and estimates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or extensive industry experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of estimating experience in the HVAC/R industry.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and estimating software (e.g., Quotesoft).
- Understanding of market conditions' influence on pricing.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with quiet to moderate noise levels.
- Frequent use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing.
- Occasional standing, walking, and reaching.
- Specific vision abilities required.
