Overview (Scope of Role)The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Specialist will perform duties under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor with technical support from the Instrument & Controls Engineer to maintain the plant's instrumentation and controls systems at peak operating conditions. Leadership of the other I&C Specialists daily activities as well as mentoring their skills is a key part of this position. This position makes decisions based upon sound maintenance practices and business needs assessment. This will be an onsite position at our Florence, KY location. Responsibilities Leadership Responsibilities:The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all instrument calibrations and batching system performance checks are completed in a timely manner and results reported to appropriate personnel.The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Specialist will mentor and teach the other I&C Specialist so that consistent testing and calibrations are obtained by each associate.The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Specialist will also direct the technical troubleshooting of plant equipment with the other I&C Specialists.Coordinate work planning and scheduling with the Maintenance SupervisorParticipate in the execution of controls related capital projects.Primary Responsibilities: Perform instrument calibrations - adjust or replace instrument as neededPerform batching system performance checks to verify system is operating within tolerancesMaintain appropriate documentation as required in the instrumentation calibration programAssists in the development and implementation of processes needed to maintain the controls system at 'World Class' standardsParticipate on large project teams in the development of control/instrumentation system specifications and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of new equipment systemsLead the development and execution of small projects that are electrical/controls in nature.As well as being an Instrumentation & Controls Specialist the position also requires the ability and knowledge to perform the following tasks. This includes but is not limited to:Perform system start-ups and operational checkouts on systems including configuration, wiring, calibration, grounding and power testingReload and reboot PLC to restore faulted equipmentPerform preventative maintenance and routine inspections Provide hardware and software application support assistance to engineers, maintenance and production.Setup and configure replacement electronic and controls components to fit specific applications Specify, organize and maintain adequate spare parts and modules for control and instrumentation systemsTune automatic feedback control loops using PID controllersUtilize technical materials such as equipment manuals, SDS, safety materials, system drawings, Process and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's), electrical schematics, PLC ladder logic and blue prints to troubleshoot and maintain systems Qualifications Experience and Education Documented training in control and instrumentation troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenanceA minimum of 5 years industrial manufacturing experience. Chemical manufacturing experience is preferredTrack record of increased technical competence and responsibilitiesThe ideal candidate will be proficient in process control and instrumentation including:Instrumentation including temperature, pressure, level, flow and mass densityGE & Allen-Bradley Control Logix PLC'sEmerson DeltaV DCSIndustrial Networking: Profibus, Modbus, AS-i Bus, Foundation FieldBUSHMI's: Wonderware and PanelviewsVFD, Servo and motion controlsDatabase architecture and system interfaces Demonstrated SkillsThe Senior Instrumentation & Controls Specialist demonstrated skills will be:Demonstrated knowledge and ability to calibrate industrial instrumentationDemonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret and troubleshoot electrical/electronic circuitsDemonstrated knowledge of Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Control Systems. This shall include the ability to read & troubleshoot PLC ladder logicDemonstrated ability to solve problems, troubleshoot complicated process control systems, apply root cause failure techniques and make appropriate changes to avoid future reoccurrencesExceptional troubleshooting skillsKnowledgeable and able to use the maintenance dept. CMMS, preferably MVP One.
