Assistant Store Manager
The Assistant Manager is an essential member of the store leadership team and a core partner to the Store Manager. The Assistant Manager is an active part of the store operations, customer experience, and employee development. Additionally, they help coach and develop all associates while contributing to an environment in which all team members are able to collaborate in order to consistently deliver best in class customer experiences and meet sales goals. You’ll partner with your leadership team to make adjustments when needed to drive the business forward, while seamlessly stepping in on tasks when needed.
About the role:
- Display best-in-class customer service techniques, and build customer loyalty through sales interactions. Ensure that all staff on duty are doing the same
- Demonstrate the ability to perform and train staff on all store operations tasks from register to stock room
- Delegate appropriately to ensure efficiency of store operations and to develop team members
- Coach and develop retail associates to meet store goals
- Assist with BOH tasks, including but not limited to: stock transfers, inventory counts, stockroom maintenance, etc.
- Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, training and development of all staff
- Ability to build customer loyalty; grow and manage clientele
- Maintain product knowledge and ensure delivery of this information to staff
- Encourage and recognize opportunities for team selling
- Understand and exemplify the Saturdays NYC brand philosophy and lifestyle
- Model and teach store associates to support a positive client-centric environment
- Contribute to a positive, fun, professional, productive, and team-oriented store atmosphere
About you:
- You have a great fashion aesthetic and are plugged in to what’s happening in the industry and community
- You have a track record of setting and achieving goals
- You enjoy working hard and always see things through from start to finish
- You are energized by change; shift gears quickly and rally the team behind new strategies and projects
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent combo of education and experience
- You have 3 or more years of experience in specialty/luxury retail, with 1+ year in an assistant manager, sales lead, or operations lead role
- You are a effective and confident communicator
- You process information and operate store systems accurately
- You’re available when we are busy, including: nights, weekends, holidays, and various special events
- You must be able to bend, reach, stretch for product as well as lift, carry and move at least 40 pounds/18 kilos.
We’d love if:
- You have experience with surfing and surf culture
- You’re experienced with Shopify
- You’re bi-lingual
- Have barista/coffee experience and have a food handlers license
The pay range for this role is $24-$30/hr based on experience
