Key Responsibilities:


  • The Turbomachinery and Heat Exchanger Analysis and Design group within the Mechanical Systems and Components (MS&C) directorate is responsible for the design, development, and analysis of Environmental Control System (ECS) turbomachinery and heat exchangers, as well as electric traction drive motors.
  • The successful applicant will be responsible for stress, vibration, and heat transfer analyses.
  • Responsibilities include providing technical expertise on a variety of projects and programs.
  • You will use your expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards, processes, and tools to ensure compliance to customer and program requirements.
  • Other responsibilities include communicating with Project engineering teams, conduction of design reviews, presentations to internal and external customers and contributing to department process improvement initiatives.
  • Design and analysis using complex finite element methods.
  • Provide technical oversight to global engineering teams across time zones.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Requirements validation
  • Project and product compliance
  • Risk management.
  • Process Development
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action


Key Requirements and Technology Experience:


  • Required Keywords:(MECHANICAL OR SYSTEMS OR TURBINE OR BEARING) AND (HARMONIC OR STATIC OR "ELASTO-PLASTIC" OR "ELASTOPLASTIC" OR ELASTO OR PLASTIC OR HCF OR LCF OR LINEAR OR NONLINEAR OR "CRACK GROWTH") AND (STRUCTURAL OR STRESS) AND (ANALYSIS).
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing structural analysis on gas turbine engines and/or other structural, load bearing components and systems
  • Proficiency in linear static, nonlinear/elasto-plastic, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, harmonic, random vibration, & crack growth analyses
  • Strong working knowledge of ANSYS finite element software & classical hand calculation methods.
  • Ability to mentor others
  • Significant experience with new product development in a highly regulated environment
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex and challenging problems.
  • Effectively operate in a matrix organization
  • Track record of successful contribution to products & projects
  • Keen mindset to envision process improvements and execution of such initiatives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
