Radiologist Technician

JOB SUMMARY 

Responsible for providing care to patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiology suite and operating room. Also responsible for participating in preoperative assessment of the patient, including radiology procedures as requested. Maintains and documents equipment are properly calibrated. Maintains log of all radiation procedures.

We have four PPTI locations (Hillsboro, Loveland, Middletown, and Mount Orab), as well as an ambulatory surgery center that is opening in July. Candidate will be expected to travel to all locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology

Registered with the ARRT

Two (2) years of radiology technician experience preferred

Current state licensure/certificate required

CPR certification required

ARRT License – Required

BLS – Required

Must have experience operating C-arm in sterile environment. 

MENTAL DEMANDS

Require frequent and constant judgment and response; occasionally in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drills. Require language skills adequate for high-level written and interpersonal communication in American English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Require high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities. Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs, to stand or sit for long periods, occasional overhead and low reaching and the ability to exert force of 20-50 pounds 0 – 33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 pounds, 34-66% of the work day (frequently); 1-10 pounds 67-100% of the work day (constantly); Lifting 50 pounds maximum and exerting up to 100 pounds of force rarely.

• This position works in an environment with moderate noise level.
• Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to bloodborne pathogens.

Completes duties according to the requirements of each approved procedure needing radiological support.

1. Assembles necessary supplies and positioning aids for scheduled procedures according to physician’s preference card.
2. Tests and monitors equipment for proper working condition.
3. Confirms that all persons in the room are properly shielded before activating radiation equipment.

Applies the prescribed procedures to completely perform the radiology technician functions.

1. Follows principles and aseptic technique in performing duties during the procedure.
2. Remains available during the procedure to provide timely response to physician or patient needs.
3. Follows manufacturer’s specifications and OSHA guidelines when performing radiation procedures.

Performs required maintenance of equipment by adhering to cleaning, care, storage and calibration procedures as directed.

1. Handles equipment correctly to provide availability and safety.
2. Maintains a clean and organized work area.

Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and the physician.

1. Documents records and other forms according to the facility policy.
2. Communicates information about the patient’s status to others responsible for patient care. 

Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and direction.
