About the Position We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious Lead Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the development of our software products, driving innovation, and mentoring junior members of the engineering team. You will be responsible for leading the end-to-end software development process and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet our clients' needs and industry standards. Being a small but growing team, you will also need strong communication skills, work across the enterprise and have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. This is a full-time role based in Kansas City and we’re currently operating in a flexible, hybrid work environment. Key Responsibilities: Lead a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality solutionsBuild a high performing team through understanding technical capability, individual motivations, and business visionUnderstand capacity of the execution team to provide effective resourcing strategy for delivery - engage external resources as neededLead technical design, architecture, and execution of solutionsBuilding products in secure manner, complying with HIPAA or other security requirementsConnect to emerging technologies in the market Required Skills: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum of 6 years of work experience with strong software engineering experienceMinimum of 3 years of work experience leading technical projects or teamsStrong Object Oriented programming skillsStrong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScriptFamiliarity with website optimization, security, and SEO best practicesManage server configurations and administrationMonitor server performance, security, and troubleshoot issues as they ariseUnderstanding of HIPAA complianceUnderstanding of DevOps and DevSecOps principles and practices Preferred Skills: Experience with WordPress, WooCommerce, Gravity Forms and LAMP stack technologiesProficiency in server administration using cPanel and WHMExperience working with Health Plans and Health SystemsExperience working in a Cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)Understanding of data ingestion and warehousing practices Compensation and Benefits: $150,000 - $180,000 + bonus + equity (depending on experience) Hybrid work environmentFlexible vacation policyHealth, Dental, Vision insuranceFun, fast-paced work environmentExposure to different departments within a growing mission-driven startup Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Free From Market is an equal opportunity employer committed to inclusion and diversity.
