A Lead Interface Engineer works with these teams as well as external parties to ensure our efforts are aligned and focused on achieving the right solution. This role is responsible for leading an engineering team to develop and maintain data pipelines. These pipelines support COTA's business objectives by capturing data, processing it efficiently, and integrating it appropriately into COTA's overall data warehouse. Judicious design and intelligent implementation of these components are crucial to our business success. And as the primary driver of such work, so too is the Lead Interface Engineer.What Will You GainExtensive knowledge of implementing and executing data ingestion servicesExperience managing priorities and driving Agile ceremoniesExposure to leading a team of talented engineers, while implementing and fostering a positive cultureExperience interacting with clients and external stakeholders to facilitate data requests and transmissionsAn ability to investigate and resolve production issuesWhat To Expect In Your First Year At COTA:In thirty days, you will:Understand the function of our DAI (Data Acquisition and Intake) team and the projects it's responsible forBegin to make direct contributions to the DAI code baseGet to know the DAI team members and their strengths and weaknessesIn three months, you will:Start to build relationships with external partnersBegin to understand company priorities, and apply them to DAI team prioritiesMake significant contributions to the DAI codebaseBegin to delegate team tasks and responsibilitiesBe performing deep data analysis and discoveryIn six months, you will:Making complex contributions to the DAI codebase autonomouslyWorking with product to define team prioritiesTriaging, debugging, and repairing production issuesMentoring the DAI engineersIn one year, you will:An autonomous leader of the DAI teamHelping set the strategic direction of COTA engineeringCollaborating with other engineering leaders to improve our products and architectureWorking with product to define and scope new productsWhat You Bring To The TableA bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related major, or equivalent work experienceAbility to write well-documented, reusable, and testable code5+ years of experience in working with data pipelines, data storage, and software services5+ years experience working with SQL and relational databases5+ years experience working with a backend programming language like Python, Java, Scala, etc.Understanding of data intake, mapping, normalization, and storageProfessional Experience with Mirth (NextGen) or similar ETL services and data pipelinesExperience with Cloud integration with AWS and/or GCPProficiency in distributed version control systems such as gitClear and strong written and verbal communication skillsPreparing and delivering presentationsWriting documentation (technical and non-technical)Service orientation toward customers (both internal and external)Ability to collaborate with peers and other senior / principal engineers. Ability to solve technical and business problems collaborativelyProvide opportunities for people to learn to work together as a team.
