We offer a wide variety of competitive benefits, services and programs that provide our employees with the resources to pursue their goals, both at work and in their personal lives.The Director EHS, External Manufacturing is the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Lead for BMS's global Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) program and acts as the primary point of contact for EHS relating to the third-party supplier (TPS) network. In this key role, the Director of EHS (ExM) is responsible for integrating EHS requirements into all stages of the TPRM lifecycle to ensure third-party suppliers comply with local EHS regulatory requirements and meet BMS EHS performance expectations.The role will work closely with multiple teams and functions, including Global EHS, BMS External Manufacturing teams (A&I, Biologics, CTO, etc.), Product Development, Product Stewardship, Procurement, and external suppliers and partners, and will interface with internal and external senior leadership to progress the External Manufacturing EHS strategy and agenda.Reporting to the Executive Director of GPS EHS and S-CoE, the role demands a forward-thinking leader with a proven track record in EHS at a global scale, driving continuous improvement, and creating a safety-first mindset.Key Responsibilities:External Manufacturing EHS Strategy: Lead the development and execution of the company's EHS strategy for external development & manufacturing and our approach to TPS EHS Assessments, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and regulatory requirements.Policies and Standards: Further develop and enhance EHS policies and standards to clearly define the scope, expectations, roles & responsibilities, and provide a structured process for all stages of the TPRM lifecycle for TPS.Risk Management: Ensure the TPRM program provides a structured process for identifying, assessing, and proactively mitigating EHS risks; communicating and escalating significant/critical risks; and reporting of relevant TPS risks allowing for informed decision making by BMS stakeholders based on the organization's risk appetite.EHS Due Diligence and Assessment: Lead the TPS EHS due diligence and assessment program as part of the selection of new suppliers / request for proposal (RFP) process and the periodic assessment of existing suppliers.Contractual Arrangements: Ensure EHS requirements and performance expectations appropriate to scope of service are clearly defined in TPS contracts and service agreements as part of the award of new contracts/periodic renewal of existing contracts with Procurement.Governance: Establish a governance structure and reporting process with relevant stakeholders to oversee TPS EHS risks, monitor process metrics/KPIs and trends, and escalate issues where necessary.Continuous Improvement: Leverage digital platforms, AIT tools, and data-driven insights & feedback to improve process efficiency, and refine program and EHS goals to drive continuous improvement in EHS performance and practices across the TPS network.Integration and Co-Ordination: Support process to co-ordinate the interactions of associated BMS functions (e.g., Product Stewardship, Product Accountability & Disposal Management, Global Insurer requirements, etc.) with the TPS network to ensure all BMS requirements are addressed and that BMS speaks with one voice.Training: Provide tailored EHS training for relevant stakeholders and supplier relationship managers to ensure the program scope and purpose is clearly understood, and support risk-based decision making for the TPS network.Resourcing: Ensure the EHS TPRM program has appropriate resources and budget allocation to effectively fulfil its function.Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science/Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.Minimum of 10 years of experience in EHS management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing global or multi-regional EHS programs, preferably in the pharma, biotech or life-science sectors.Proven experience of working in an EHS leadership role in a large, complex organization with multiple regions and diverse operations.Strong knowledge of global EHS regulations, standards and industry best practices.Demonstrated success in implementing EHS programs that reduce incidents and improve safety performance.Skills & Key Competencies:Leadership & Influence: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire others at all levels.Strategic Thinking: Strong capability to support the development of long-term EHS strategies while maintaining focus on day-to-day operations.Innovation: Proven track record of developing and implementing innovative, best-in-class and scalable EHS solutionsTechnical Expertise: Expert knowledge and experience in key EHS topics.Risk Management: Expertise in identifying and managing risks across various sectors and operational environments.Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across geographies. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership, external partners, and regulators.Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive data-driven safety improvements.Agility: Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.Continuous Improvement: A passion for safety innovation and continuous improvement, with a focus on outcomes and results.Travel: Willingness to travel globally, as needed (up to 50% of time).
