Director, Office Of The PresidentHeadquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Focus on the Family has nearly 700 employees who work to achieve the mission of enriching the lives of families, engaging the culture, advocating for life and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Director, Office of the President position exists to manage and direct the day-to-day workings of the personal correspondence of Jim Daly and the Executive staff, as well as a team of OOTP writing staff and administrative assistants. Through the correspondence and writings created, the Office of the President Writing group represents the views of Jim Daly and Focus on the Family to the public at large as well as to ministry friends.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Directs writers to use innovative and creative ways to answer highly complex, non-standard inquiries routed by Relationship Services that are beyond the response level expected of FHSs; often, a high degree of research and interface with ministry personnel is requiredManages a team of Office of the President writers who create draft responses for Jim Daly and Focus Executive staff, including some team members who write in a remote or hybrid capacityOversees the writing and processing of Jim Daly's correspondence, along with monthly Board update emails, receipt letters, and other pieces bearing the president's signatureProvides daily review and routing of incoming physical mail pieces addressed to Jim DalyProcesses writing requests from Executive staff, Family Advancement, and other departmentsReviews and prioritizes incoming corporate mail to determine emotional/content level of response as well as the appropriate signerTracks Office of the President mail flowKeeps abreast of internal developments/policy changes and reflects current, correct information in our responsesServes as a resource on questions of Orthodoxy for the Contact Center and other ministry departmentsWhen Vice President of Ministry Values is absent, acts as primary contact for orthodoxy review/requestsServes as a liaison and orthodoxy guide for other ministry content creators as requestedMakes assignments (outlining specific instructions and approaches to take) to the Office of the President Writing Group based on individual skills/strengths and time-dated nature of correspondenceParticipates in interviewing, hiring, training, and developing new executive and administrative assistants and WritersInterfaces regularly with Information Support and Relationship Services teams on interdepartmental workflow and other issuesCoordinates with Issues/Daily Citizen team to ensure content is accurate in writing assignments/written communicationEdits and signs off on completed letters and writing projects from the Office of the President Writing Group; provides editing advice and direction for writing projects from various other departmentsStays abreast of administrative assistant processes and procedures to ensure uninterrupted workflowDrafts letters and memos for Jim Daly and other Executive team members as neededContacts ministry teams with follow-up/detail questions about pending projectsAssists in controlling department budget; approves P-card purchasesRemains alert to legal concerns which might adversely impact the ministry; communicates with Legal department on such matters as appropriateOther Duties/Responsibilities:Periodically serves as a presenter for the Ministry Values division at Chief of Staff meetingsMaintains Jim Daly's LinkedIn social accountPerforms other duties as assignedManagerial Breadth/Scope of Job:Directly supervises administrative staff and Writers as applicable or neededWorking Environment/Physical Requirements:Office environmentJob Qualifications/Requirements:Character/Spiritual: Exemplifies Ephesians 5:1-2, "Therefore be imitators of God as dear children and walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us..."
