System Engineer

NextGen Federal Systems is an innovative technology and professional services provider specializing in advanced software solutions and comprehensive mission and business support services. We are looking for a system engineer who is team oriented, has experience scripting application installations, and is customer focused.


Responsibilities

  • Work with an engineering team to enable automation for a platform offering to automate system builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and across stakeholders to build the platform to enable these DevOps transformations in the AWS IL-5 (NIPR) and IL-6 (SIPR) environments.
  • Participate in team scrum and program meetings.
  • Provide inputs for the technical solutions team, and work to complete assigned action items.
  • Provide support to users including assisting with development of automation to support acceleration of system builds, testing, and deployment.


Qualifications

  • Experience with Agile software development, scripting (BASH, Ansible, or Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines
  • 3+ years development or operations experience supporting Information Technology Operations
  • 2+ years experience with script automation (BASH, Ansible, or Terraform)
  • Experience with Gitlab/Bitbucket and Nexus, experience with Docker and Linux administration
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot tool installations and utilize scripts for process automation
  • An Active Secret level security clearance
  • A BA or BS degree is required. An Associates degree and 7 years of experience or a total of 9 years of total experience may be substituted for the BA/BS degree requirement.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, attention to detail, and strong customer-facing skills


Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Jenkins and GitLab runners, able to create CI/CD pipelines desired
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with mix of Helm charts, Dockerfiles, Terraform, Ansible, Bash and YAML desired
