POSITION SUMMARY
The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner provides a broad range of services including the assessment, identification and treatment of medical concerns, health education to patients, and illness and injury prevention. The PA/NP also acts as a consultant to the nursing staff. The incumbent is responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation; directs and guides ancillary personnel, while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
The following requirements list the minimum to qualify. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
EDUCATION:
Graduate of college/university Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant program
Preferred EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience; correctional healthcare experience preferred
CERTIFICATION:
Current CPR Certification
LICENSURE:
Current unrestricted Arizona Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse license. Current DEA license.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and performs nursing policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain a set work schedule and report to work on a timely basis
- General math and analytical skills, and planning, administrative and organizational skills essential.
- Ability to competently manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Must be able assist staff with various policies, administrative and organizational projects. “Team-player” as this position requires daily coordination with other coworkers.
