The hospital offers private rooms, an expanded emergency department, new operating room suites with state-of-the-art technology, and more.Our pediatric emergency care team is committed to patient and family-centered care that ensures the highest quality of treatment.Thats why all of our pediatric emergency rooms are staffed with board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians, as well as full clinical teams who are specially trained and experienced in treating pediatric patients.With this, we are able to provide your little ones with:Board-certified pediatric specialists trained in emergency medicinePediatric transport teamsState-of-the-art critical care units just for children, including dedicated trauma roomShort wait timesAccess to all pediatric specialties at our pediatric hospital, Holtz Childrens HospitalOur pediatric-only emergency care is available at the Chaplin Family Pediatric Emergency Room at Holtz Childrens, Jackson North Medical Center, Jackson North Medical Center, Jackson South Medical Center, and Jackson West Medical Center.SummaryThe role of Attending Physician is to provide the medical management of the various patient care programs as assigned. Maintains effective lines of communications with the medical staff, nursing, social work and management, and coordinates development, implementation and evaluation of standards of patient care.ResponsibilitiesPerforms medical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment to System patients.Provides direct patient care on a daily basis and provides all necessary medical record documentation including Medicare/Medicaid and third party payers requirements.Performs CPT and ICD10 coding for each patient encounter.Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.Attendance at Medical Staff meetings and participation with/on JMH committees/sub-committees.Participates in utilization review, quality assessment and improvement programs to improve patient care.Provides medical consultative services to other medical personnel, specifically related to overall patient management.Maintains current standards of acceptable medical practice.Participates in educational programs specific to patient care.Involves patients (and family, when necessary) in the decision making process about treatment.Meets productivity standards.Attends meetings and conferences, as directed.Participates in mandatory educational programs, in-service/training courses to maintain job competency skills.Maintains effective communication and working relationships with JHS medical personnel in the community.Collaborates with Radiology, Pathology, Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Nursing in the clinical management of patients.Performs all credentialed medical procedures according to standards, including time-out protocols.Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the continuous Quality Improvement Plan to identify improvement opportunities.Adheres to the Standards of Excellence at all times. Respects the rights, privacy and property of others at all times including the confidentiality of information, according to Administrative policies and all applicable laws and regulations.Complies with all applicable JHS policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and accreditation requirements (including HIPPAA and clinical trials protocol). Comply with all matters related to Department of Justice Consent Decree, as needed.Completes unusual occurrence report in accordance with P&P.Demonstrates knowledge of and applies principles of aseptic technique and maintains vigilance for breaks.Maintains current knowledge on procedures, instruments, equipment; and integrates knowledge and skills into practice.Performs other related duties as assigned.Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).ExperienceGenerally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.EducationDoctorate degree in Medicine is required.(PEM) Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship is required.CredentialsValid Florida Medical License. Active DEA and board certification or eligible (PEM) is required. Other specialty certifications related to specialty are a plus. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) (ACLS) (PALS)and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.Jackson Health System is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, disability status, age, or any other status protected by law.
