JOB SUMMARY FOR METALLURGIST:

• Hiring a Metallurgical Engineer for a leading manufacturer in Decatur, IL.
• M-F 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with some OT & Travel expected
• $26-28/hour based on benefits

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR METALLURGIST:

• Accurately identify and classify parts and projects, ensuring alignment with project specifications and requirements.
• Oversee material acquisition, inventory management, and ensure materials meet quality standards and project specifications.
• Analyze and interpret engineering drawings and prints to guide the manufacturing and quality control processes.
• Develop comprehensive test plans to evaluate product performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
• Perform nondestructive testing methods to assess material integrity and detect defects without damaging the components.
• Conduct destructive testing and analysis to determine material properties and validate product durability under stress conditions.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of testing procedures, results, material specifications, and quality control measures.
• Effectively communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates to internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
• Work closely with laboratory personnel, internal quality engineers, external suppliers, and customers to ensure project goals are met and quality standards are achieved.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE FOR METALLURGIST:

• Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical or Materials Science Engineering
• Preferred candidates would include 3+ years of previous experience
