THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is on the lookout for a Roadway Programs Coordinator that is ready to take their career up a notch This position plays a crucial role in managing a range of administrative and technical support activities associated with the maintenance of roadway programs in Dauphin County. This position also involves contributing to the formulation of the Annual Work Plan (AWP), ensuring that all aspects of roadway management are effectively addressed. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Roadway Programs Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to coordinate roadway programs maintenance functions for Dauphin County, which has 667 linear miles of roads, 6,650,724 Daily Vehicle Miles of Travel (DVMT), a complement of 79 field personnel, and a budget of $6.9 million You will be responsible for assisting the County Maintenance Manager and the Assistant Maintenance Managers in developing the AWP which includes coordinating and developing the county 213 Surface Improvement Program.

Throughout the fiscal year, you will monitor the AWP by utilizing Plant Maintenance and Business Warehouse reports to ensure plan conformance, reporting on status, and making recommendation for adjustments as needed for changing priorities, conditions, and funding. Work will include assessing and determining material requirements for activities based on the AWP.

You will be preparing budget reviews for the county as you keep management informed about budgetary status, facilitating informed decision-making. Advising the County Manager on budgetary matters and recommending the reallocation of funds between programs will also be part of your responsibilities. Continuous monitoring of all funds will be crucial to ensure that sufficient resources are available for all county operations and to prevent any loss of funds at the end of the fiscal year. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing budgetary aspects of all county Agility agreements and suggesting modifications based on budget considerations
  • Reviewing and adjusting scheduled work by analyzing Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) reports, original planning session notes, weather conditions, inventory assessments, equipment availability reports, and related highway materials information
  • Coordinating and engaging in the review and analysis of output data from the SAP Plant Maintenance system to ensure that work program objectives are met and to maintain overall system control
  • Analyzing the deployment of manpower, equipment, and materials to effectively schedule work and evaluate cost data

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Roadway Programs Specialist or Roadway Programs Technician Supervisor; or
  • Three years of experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and an associate‘s degree in a field of business administration, computer science, highway engineering technology or closely related program; or
  • One year of experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of methods and techniques used in a roadway maintenance management system; and a bachelor‘s degree in business administration, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or civil engineering related discipline; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
