Patient Access SpecialistWe are looking for a detail-oriented Patient Access Specialist to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Lewiston, Maine. In this role, you will handle patient admissions and related administrative tasks, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. This position requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service while managing patient accounts and supporting the hospital's mission.Responsibilities:Accurately assign medical record numbers (MRNs) and perform compliance checks to ensure patient records meet regulatory standards.Provide patients with clear instructions and collect necessary insurance information while processing physician orders.Conduct pre-registration tasks such as gathering demographic and insurance details via inbound and outbound calls.Explain consent forms and patient education documents to patients, guarantors, or legal guardians while obtaining necessary signatures.Verify insurance eligibility and enter benefit data into the system to support billing processes.Inform Medicare patients about non-payment risks and distribute required documents, including Advance Beneficiary Notices.Perform audits on patient accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality standards.Utilize reporting systems to identify and correct errors in accounts across various departments and facilities.Meet assigned point-of-service collection goals and assist patients with payment plans, including collecting past-due balances.Requirements:Proven experience in customer service, particularly in a healthcare or administrative setting.Proficiency in data entry and handling patient account information.Familiarity with insurance verification processes and medical necessity checks.Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide compassionate service.Knowledge of payment collection processes and patient financial liabilities.Ability to adhere to strict regulatory compliance requirements.Experience with quality auditing and reporting systems is a plus.
