Overview Knowledge Services is seeking a remote .Net Developer/FAST Specialist for a contract through the end of June 2026 (potential for extension) with the State of Maine Office of Technology. Applicants MUST have prior experience within state, federal, or local government. We are unable to consider any candidates requiring C2C or sponsorship for a work visa. Responsibilities .Net Developer/FAST Specialist Responsibilities: • The candidate will be responsible for analysis, design, coding, testing, and documentation. • The candidate will code enhancements and develop required fixes to production problems using the functional and technical programming standards of the GenTax system. • The tool set will include C#, PostgreSQL, and Visual Studio. • The candidate will execute the required steps for implementing SQR change requests in the FAST Gentax system and tracking changes in the Fast Central Repository (FCR) following the project standards. • They will coordinate their work with other software developers. • They will participate in structured code reviews and walkthroughs. • The execution of all their responsibilities will be with little direct supervision of a team leader. • Plan all required process steps.• Review and understand the Application Team’s workplan.• Provide status of work to Team Lead.• Anticipate, identify, track and resolve issues and risks affecting own work and work of the Application Team.• Develop contingency plans as necessary.• Engage in ongoing process improvement.• Detailed functional and process knowledge.• Utilize deep modeling, design and coding skills.• Provide expertise in one or more database environments.• Ability to make best practice recommendations based on past work.• Proven ability to present complex technical constructions to business and non-technical users.• Proven ability to collaborate with business users, project managers and technical architects• Confers with other business and technical personnel to resolve problems of intent, inaccuracy, or feasibility of computer processing.• Works with necessary personnel to determine if modifications are necessary with interested personnel to determine necessity for modifications or enhancements.• Leverages excellent written and verbal communication skills to develop new business process and programming solutions as directed by business and technical stakeholders.• May coordinate activities of computer programmers.• Converts scientific, engineering, and other technical problem formulations to formats that can be processed by computer.• Resolves symbolic formulations, prepares flowcharts and block diagrams, and encodes resultant equations for processing by applying extensive knowledge of branch of science, engineering, or advanced mathematics, such as differential equations or numerical analysis, and understanding of capabilities and limitations of computers.• This is a professional level non-supervisory position which may require coordination of programming activities being conducted by the team• Confers with other business and technical personnel to resolve problems of intent, inaccuracy, or feasibility of computer processing. Qualifications .Net Developer/FAST Product Specialist Required Skills: • Must have experience in one of the following FAST programs: GenTax, FAST DV-VS, FAST UI-PL or FAST CSE. • FAST Core Components• C#• PostgreSQL • Visual Studio Preferred: • Experience working with government or public sector IT systems preferred We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
