Verify that work is performed according to all State and Federal specifications, plans, permits, policies, procedures, statutes and rules. Perform approved testing techniques through the use of hand tools, gauges and/or instruments to ensure materials used conform to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requirements.Perform interpretation of governing documents related to authorized Maintenance of Traffic device usage, installation/placement and materials to ensure safe work zones. Review work site activities for conformity to safety regulations and take corrective measures when deficiencies are noted.Prepares records and reports for work completed and other related documents accurately and in a timely manner. Prepares all documentation in order to validate payments to roadway contractors.Conducts surveys of signs, guardrail, and attenuators as required by procedures. Provides survey of roadway items to be inventoried for Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI). Fills out data coding sheet and enters roadway data into computer data base as needed. Gathers data and performs preliminary reviews for maintenance contract needs. Assists in the preparation of maintenance contracts. Prepares specifications as needed for use in maintenance contracts.Conducts/attends pre-work conferences on maintenance contracts and attends/conducts meetings with contractors/utility owners/permitees throughout life of projects as assigned. Acts as a representative of the Department on all issues related to contracts and permits. Issues work documents on contracts as directed.Performs plans reviews for constructability and adherence to Department Standards and specifications. Provides comments on Department policies and procedures as requested.Performs quarterly surveys of invasive plant species within the Florida Department of Transportation Right of Way with Global Positioning System (GPS). Records and electronically store coordinates and other location data in excel spreadsheet format. Maintains and updates spreadsheet to include newly discovered, existing and eradicated locations; as well as treatment dates and locations.Assembles payment packages for contracts in accordance with established processes.
