West Side Montessori is a family-oriented educational community located in Toledo and Perrysburg, Ohio. Located on 37 acres of beautifully wooded property, our Toledo campus is approximately five miles from the Michigan border. We have served the Northwest Ohio community since 1975 educating 400+ children from 13 months through 8th grade. West Side is one of the largest private Montessori schools in the country and is accredited by the American Montessori Society.

Role Description

Would you enjoy working in an environment where your students are self-motivated, enjoy learning, and appreciate new experiences? What about hosting your students’ concerts outside on our large, beautiful grounds? Could you see yourself using the one-to-one iPad-to-student ratio in fourth through eighth grade to teach your general music class? Would you appreciate having a music room that has a collection of band instruments to direct a 5th through 8th-grade band, a full set of Orff instruments, boom-whackers, and a Smart Board to teach a general music class? Do you wish to have a supportive environment where administration and parents support your needs and ideas and want the best for their students? If so, we’d like to hear from you

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement, BA in music education or related field
• Current ODE licensure in Music Education preferred
• Experience teaching music and band or willingness to develop these skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans
• Passion for music and a love for teaching
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents

Position Details: 

This is a salaried position working during the school year from mid-August through early June. West Side Montessori also offers a summer camp program where teachers and assistants may choose to work (full or part-time) during the summer months for additional pay. Some of our teachers teach after-school extracurriculars for extra pay as well, along with private or small group lessons.
