Academic Req: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program Certifications: Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Employees shall meet the requirements of the Texas Board of Medical Examiners and be licensed to practice medicine without restrictions within the state of Texas. Must maintain good standing as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with the state of Texas Medical Board; current BLS certifications (ACLS and PALS preferred); and current DEA certification without restriction Work experience: Minimum of three (3) years of Nurse Practitioner experience in a family practice setting is required. Prior RN experience is preferred. Experience with pediatric and adult populations, including completing physical assessments, is required. Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables: Practice of medicine within the scope of the license. Practice of medicine within the scope of training. Practice of medicine within the scope of credentialing. Practice of medicine in accordance with the current standards of care. Meet and maintain all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position. See patients in the shelter medical unit (a broad-spectrum office that serves all pediatric ages and conditions) permanently, which may involve extended, weekend, and holiday hours. Provide medical services within the scope of licensing, training, and credentialing. Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients served by demonstrative knowledge of the principles of growth and development. Conduct medical examinations and immunizations according to contract guidelines. Communicates appropriately with the person served, regardless of their age. Complete charting and required paperwork promptly and per guidelines. Round on nurse calls to other office locations if needed and as directed. Participation in the development/review of office policies and support of the RN manager in their duties. Support the Emergency Management Division (EMD) as needed when on call or during office hours. Promote a safety-conscious workplace and maintain good housekeeping practices. Abide by all appropriate policies & procedures, with an emphasis on strict adherence to ethical codes Ability to perform in dynamic, fast-paced, stressful environments associated with disaster response situations. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Other Responsibilities: Possess a clear understanding of Compass Connections, federal and state protocols for illness, injury, medication administration, and emergencies. Ability to exhibit clear communication skills with clinic staff, command staff, and physicians. Establishes health care plans for the service population utilizing best practice provider guidelines. Complete accurate documentation in accordance with agency policies and procedures, contract and regulatory requirements and standards, and program timeline requirements. Review, write, and update medical protocols and procedures in collaboration with the Medical Services Division and Compass Connections Division Professional Management Team. Meet all pre-determined deadlines required by the program and federal partners Communicate effectively in writing and verbally in Spanish and English. Requirements: Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, professionals, and children Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining control and professional composure at all times, and making decisions based on the needs of the program and service population Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position Work effectively and without intensive supervision, both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team Must complete and sign the Operations Policy and Procedure review and certification. Must provide current physical-medical release and provide proof of immunizations, titers, or declinations for the following: MMR, Varicella, HepB, HepA, Tetanus, PPD, and Meningococcal (preferred) Must be able to perform physical activity such as extensive walking, lifting of patients, stretching, and bending. Must be able to work in a team environment. Must be able to maintain professional people skills, oral, written, listening, and non-verbal communication skills.
