Responsibilities

This person will report to the CTO. They will be a member of a team of 3 consisting of DevOps and software engineers in a mostly Linux environment. The team currently supports production and corporate IT needs.

This is a growth position to guarantee our expansion in the next few years from a small company with a single facility to a medium sized one.

We are looking for someone in a current hands-on networking role, preferably in a Cisco environment. They will fine tune this area of our IT infrastructure to create a secure, automatable, reproducible design for national deployment. Your approach must also be applied to the expected DevOps challenges to meet this goal.

We have some immediate networking projects that this role will need to personally implement.

The role will be responsible for:

  1. Hands-On Technical Mastery: Perform the necessary configuration tasks for our network deployments.
  2. Day-to-day operations: Oversee IT incident management, problem management, change management, vulnerability management, upgrades, repairs, trouble ticketing and monitoring.
  3. Network Design: Architect and manage the deployment of network infrastructure for new data center and office setups independently, with minimal reliance on third-party vendors.
  4. IP Address Allocation: Create a comprehensive IPv4 and IPv6 address allocation scheme that can be uniformly and predictably applied across all datacenter, corporate and related facilities.
  5. Budgeting: Manage the procurement of hardware and software to support ongoing network operations, and technology upgrades.
  6. Vendor and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with third-party vendors, and critical internal stakeholders to align network IT services with organizational needs.
  7. Compliance and Security: Ensure the infrastructure adheres to all regulatory and cybersecurity standards, coordinating with relevant departments to maintain audit compliance.
  8. Performance Monitoring: Oversee the monitoring of network infrastructure performance across all locations to ensure optimal operation.
  9. Strategic Reporting: Regularly evaluate critical networking KPIs, report performance metrics to senior management, and recommend improvements.
  10. Policy Development: Develop, document, and maintain IT security policies, and general procedures.
  11. OnCall: There will be an on-call requirement shared with other IT members. This will require familiarity with all our IT operations workflows.
  12. IT Operations Support: We expect the IT network operations workload to fluctuate, therefore the candidate will be expected to lead other DevOps projects as required.

Requirements

  1. At least 2-5 years of experience in network engineering.
  2. Demonstrable skills in advanced troubleshooting and configuration in a Cisco environment. Familiarity with network infrastructure including VPN, LAN / WAN, SD/WAN, IDS, firewalls and WiFi technologies supporting a multi-site production network. Hands-on experience with BGP and OSPF is a plus.
  3. Hands-on familiarity with both Linux and Windows systems. Systems Administration experience with these is a plus.
  4. Demonstrable scripting experience in Python is preferred.
  5. Strong track record of successfully leading IT projects.
  6. Ability to work effectively with both internal stakeholders and external vendors to meet the strategic IT goals of the organization.
  7. Strong analytical skills to regularly assess IT performance and drive continuous improvement.
  8. Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  9. Team player with a high level of dedication and commitment to excellence.
  10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Other
