Primary Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
- Month-End Close and Reconciliation:
- Manage month-end close schedules across multiple departments.
- Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and financial data.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Summarize financial variances and prepare internal management reports.
- Audit and Budget Support:
- Coordinate and prepare year-end audit schedules and deliverables.
- Develop and monitor budgets, providing forecasts and variance analyses.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Mentor and guide staff accountants to enhance team efficiency.
- Partner with departments to deliver financial insights and support.
- Process Improvement and Systems Management:
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process enhancements.
- Audit methods to improve efficiency in month-end close and reporting.
- Support and implement accounting systems and workflows.
- General Accounting Duties:
- Address errors, handle inquiries, and provide timely resolutions.
- Participate in specialized projects as needed.
Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience.
- Proficiency with accounting principles and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with nonprofit accounting is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
