AIT offers a competitive compensation package (including free medical options for employees and their family), casual work environment and excellent growth opportunities.Job SummaryThe tool assembler is responsible for the day to day operation of the Assembly department by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities below.Duties And ResponsibilitiesRead, understand, and follow advanced job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions and procedures.Lifts, loads, sorts, and moves materials, supplies, and finished products between storage and work areas, using push-cart, hoist, or dolly.Assemble components accurately, thoroughly and quickly to approved specificationsOperate equipment in a safe manner and uses safe work habits.Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and sub-assemblies with hand tools, power tools, or bench machines.Inspects, tests, and verifies accuracy of assembled article for conformance to standards, using measuring or testing equipment, or by visual examination. Informs supervisors of any parts or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem.Adjusts, repairs, or replaces defective product parts, using hand tools, power tools, or bench machines.Cleans dust, dirt, and other foreign matter from material or machine surfaces, using cleaning solution, rag, air hose.Measures and marks reference lines and points on parts according to specifications, using template, rule, or marking device.Cuts materials, such as fabric, metal, paper, or wood into specified dimensions or shapes, using cutting machine, scissors, or knife.Rotate through multiple stations on a shift to ensure maximum alertness and preparationPerform other duties as assigned.Education And Work ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED.Six months to one-year related experience and/or training.Work Authorization/Security Clearance RequirementsThis position may require a government security clearance.Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesReads and understands blueprints, schematics, and/or measuring devices.Follows processes and standard procedures.Hands on, get it done attitude.Uses hand tools and power tools.Work in a high energy, high volume, rapidly changing environment.Displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved.Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.Understands how to use the computers, including such tasks as turning the computer on and off, locating and opening files, navigate to websites, perform searches, and download files.Easy to approach and can build constructive and effective relationships.Analyzes and diagnoses problems and works independently to solve them.Works collaboratively and build strategic relations with colleagues, coworkers, and contractors.Works effectively with different levels of management, team members and customers.Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.Knowledge of jig and fixture building, tool and die making, machine shop theory & practice.Work ConditionsEnvironment Type: Indoors. Temperature controlled, unless products and/or equipment is located outdoors.Bloodborne pathogensCuts and/or burnsSmall and/or enclosed spacesDirt, dust, grease and/or oilNoisy environmentMetal shavingsCommercial chemicalsWork HoursStandard work schedule, overtime may be necessary for meeting deadlines, required travel, and emergent conditions.Travel RequirementsThis position may involve travel up to 20% of the time.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.Operate a motor vehicle and/or heavy equipment.Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.Read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.Visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and operation of machines.
