This role manages key inventory and financial KPIs, maintains data integrity within the MRP system, and ensures purchase orders comply with company policies and supplier requirements. The Purchasing Supervisor analyzes MRP outputs to optimize ordering strategies, resolves vendor issues, and partners with internal teams to support continuous process improvements. This position also leads and develops the purchasing team through regular coaching, feedback, and engagement, while ensuring all purchasing activities meet Quality Assurance and food safety standards.Job DutiesReconcile product invoices and purchase orders, working with purchasing team on Prepare, process and review requisitions and purchase orders for all raw materials.Control purchasing department budgets as it pertains to inventory management and cash flow KPIs.Review Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to ensure ordering compliance, optimization and POs are being placed on time.Analyze and interpret MRP outputs to proactively adjust purchasing strategies. Additionally, train team members on MRP system utilization and best practices.Maintain data integrity on item cards impacting MRP lead times, dampening period, MOQ, reorder quantity, UOM, etc.Review purchase orders placed by the Purchasing Coordinators to ensure compliance with MOQs, reordering points, and lead times.Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to Organization policy.Manage KPIs for the department including but not limited to Days to Usage, Days on Hand, Work Capital dollars and pounds.Set and track inventory dollar targets aligned with company financial goalsResolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.Work with internal departments to improve business processes and strive for continuous improvement for the business.Understanding of and compliance with all Quality Assurance policies, and immediate reporting of any potential food safety issues to management.Supervise the purchasing team & build a positive career experience for our employee community.Conduct regular team meetings and 1:1 meetings to celebrate successes, address challenges and support employees in their day-to-day activities.Responsible for employee relations including work direction of employees, hiring, training, performance reviews, administering policies and procedures, disciplinary action, and compensation recommendations.Direct implementation of departmental objectives, goals and policies.Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and guidelines.Ensure that policies and procedures are being followed.Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety Protocol.Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.Correct or report any observed safety hazards.Support safety policies and programs.QualificationsEducation Required:Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Operations required.Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.Experience Required:Minimum three (3) years of experience in a Purchasing or Supply Chain environment required.Where You'll Be WorkingOur La Crosse, WI, plant is home to approximately 330 employees.
